AssistCamp is free and available in the official WordPress plugin directory. You can install it directly from your WordPress dashboard in under a minute.
If you downloaded the plugin as a ZIP file instead:
An AssistCamp menu appears in your WordPress admin sidebar. Your documentation section is created at yoursite.com/docs/ automatically. It will be empty until you publish your first doc.
If you use an SEO plugin such as Rank Math or Yoast, you may see a notice saying a new content type has been detected. This is normal and expected. AssistCamp registers its own content type, and your SEO plugin is telling you it noticed. See the article on setting up your SEO plugin for AssistCamp docs for what to do about it.
Create your first doc. You do not need to configure anything first, because AssistCamp works with its default settings out of the box.
Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins and confirm AssistCamp is listed and activated. If it is activated but the menu is missing, your user account may not have administrator permissions. Log in as an administrator and check again.
