Your site’s normal WordPress search returns blog posts, pages, and anything else it can find. Someone in your help center is looking for a doc, and a page of blog posts is not a helpful answer. Docs search only returns docs, so every result is relevant.
The search box appears on your documentation hub page at yoursite.com/docs/, using your own documentation slug.
Type a word or phrase and submit. AssistCamp matches your search against your published docs and shows the matching ones.
Search matches the words you actually wrote. This means your doc titles do more work than anything else in your documentation, because they are the strongest signal of what a doc is about.
Write titles the way your readers speak, not the way your team speaks internally:
If you know readers use a different word than you do, work their word into the doc itself. A doc titled “Refunds” that never uses the word “money back” will not be found by someone searching for “money back”.
Draft docs are not included in search results. Only published docs are searchable. If a doc you expect to find is missing, check that it is published rather than saved as a draft.
