AssistCamp keeps its settings deliberately short. There are three settings, all on one screen, and the defaults work for most sites.
Go to AssistCamp > Settings in your WordPress admin. The General tab holds all three settings. The Help & Support tab holds links for getting help.
Default: docs
This controls the base web address for your entire documentation section. With the default value, your documentation lives at yoursite.com/docs/ and each doc sits underneath that, for example yoursite.com/docs/getting-started/.
Change it if a different word suits your site better. Common alternatives are “help”, “support”, “knowledge-base”, and “guides”.
Use lowercase letters and hyphens only. Do not use spaces, capital letters, or a word already used by an existing page on your site, because two things cannot occupy the same address.
Important: if you change this setting after publishing docs, every documentation address on your site changes. Old links stop working and you may see missing page errors until you refresh your permalinks. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes immediately after changing the slug. Choose your slug early and try not to change it later.
Default: 3600 seconds (one hour)
AssistCamp saves the results of its documentation queries for a period of time so your documentation pages load quickly instead of rebuilding the same lists on every visit.
Setting the value to 0 is useful while you are actively building out your documentation and want to see changes right away. Set it back to 3600 once your documentation is stable.
Default: off
Debug Mode records extra technical information about what AssistCamp is doing. It is meant for troubleshooting, and it is only useful if you or someone helping you knows how to read the log.
Leave Debug Mode off during normal use. Turn it on only when you are chasing a specific problem or when support asks you to, and turn it off again afterwards.
Click Save Settings after any change. Nothing is saved until you do.
